An expensive street food “restaurant”
We waited 10 minutes at the door to be welcomed. Then 5 minutes to find us a table when the “restaurant” wasn’t crowded
We were escorted to the last floor the only one which was full
1.- One of the chairs was dirty so we kindly asked to be clean it up. They did it however it was left wet. We used one of the napkins to dry it up and asked for another one. They never delivered it
2.- Ten minutes later they passed by to ask for the drinks
3.- After finishing the drinks and 40 minutes later we hadn’t had the menus. When they came after asking for them a few times, we ordered 3 dishes to share
4.- More than an hour after getting into the restaurant we had our food. What was our surprise? The three dishes came together, at the same time. Lamb wasn’t warm, the Angus tartar was mixed with some fish and tasted a little bit weird. Vegetables warmer than the lamb
5.- We barely eat something and asked for the bill. They didn’t even ask why there still was food on the plates.
6.- We had to wait another ten minutes for the bill and when leaving I told my husband to go to Burger King to have something decent to eat and one of the waiter looked at me and say nothing
7.- Very noisy, few staff, poor service, bad food quality
8.- Disappointing
Came to this restaurant with high hopes after waiting almost a week for a reservation, however left disappointed and completely underwhelmed.
Considering the price of the menu and the fact that this establishment always seems to be full, you would expect a certain quality that was lacking throughout the entirety of our meal, leaving us with the feeling that this place is indeed more of an industry than a restaurant.
From the moment we sat down, we felt rushed to order. This was not helped by the fact that the 15 course meal arrived almost instantly, as if it had been prepared before the order itself. This seems to be the case with chain restaurants such as this one.
Upon the arrival of the meal, the waiter was not able to explain all of the 15 “courses” (more like 15 small snacks to be perfectly honest. Some photos by other people looked as if the menu dishes were larger, however this was barely filling for 2 individuals). À la carte portions were slightly larger, yet also significantly smaller than what you would expect for the price.
The food was decent, yet nothing extraordinary, and there were some hit or miss dishes. On the positive side, the restaurant was very well decorated, with an open kitchen and bar on the top floor.
Overall, this place did not live up to it’s expectations and gives the impression of a fast food chain disguised behind a posh establishment. There are much better options for for Indonesian food in The Hague, and I would avoid falling pray to this tourist trap.
My visit to this Indonesian restaurant was a mixed bag of flavors and experiences! Let's start with the positive—the food was absolutely fantastic. Each dish was a burst of authentic Indonesian flavors. However, a word of caution for those with milder taste buds or kids: most dishes pack a punch with spiciness, limiting the options for those seeking a less fiery experience.
Now, on to the downside—my excitement waned due to the service. We eagerly took our seats at 8:15, only to receive our food at 9:20, leaving us a tad impatient. To add to the disappointment, my ordered glass of wine arrived half-filled, with the explanation that the bottle was empty. A refill was promised with a new bottle, but alas, it never graced our table. The waiter's lack of responsiveness and apparent annoyance further dampened the overall experience.
Despite these setbacks, I can't help but imagine how amazing this place could be with improved service. The culinary delights are there, and with a more attentive and enthusiastic staff, this could easily become a go-to spot for Indonesian cuisine enthusiasts. Hoping for a better experience next time!
This is a fusion kitchen inspired on the Indonesian tradition. The dishes have a twist, which you might or might not appreciate, if you are an Indonesian food lover. The staff at the reception area is lovely, once seated this standard is difficult to maintain by the table waiters, they are unfortunately, rather forgetful. However, this is a restaurant that is worthwhile visiting. It is buzzing and hip, and the food has been prepared with skill.
Amazing food and barman/mixologist Tariq was fantastic, I got to try 2 of his amazing custom crafted cocktails! Highly recommend this place.
A busy restaurant in the heart of The Hague, which is closely historically connected with the city’s colonial era. The Indonesian food is delicious, and the atmosphere is really nice. Loved the table of 15 Indonesian dishes. The prices are high, but what would you expect — it is a restaurant were the Dutch queen used to eat! Service is quite fast, but it is difficult to find a free place in the evening — I would recommend a reservation
Outstanding Indonesian food (almost as good as from my (grand)mother), fancy interior, lounge music, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent for a special dining out experience.
Indonesian delicacies with a touch of modern and an innovative presentation. I really enjoyed the rice table which allows you to try 10-15 different dishes. The staff is really friendly and explain every plate and give warnings if it is too chilly and hot which is valid for most of the dishes :). Absolutely recommended if you are looking for a real dining experience.
